DYSU Challenge #4 - Patterned Paper

Gosh, cannot believe it is Thursday again already!  Where are the weeks going?  Anyway, as it is Thursday, it can only mean it is challenge day over at  Do You Stack Up. This week our theme is Patterned Paper.

Our sponsors this week are:
Black Leaf Studios who are giving the lucky winner the Sweet Cupcake Digi Stamp Set.

and Stitchy Bear who will give our lucky Winner a $10 Gift Certificate for their store.

I have made a round easel card using one of the gorgeous cupcake designs from Black Leaf Studios.  I have paper pieced the cupcake using some lovely papers from the "Nitwits" collection "So Berry Precious Too".  Aren't these just lush?  The "icing" on the cake has been decorated with glitter - sorry this does not show up too well in the picture.

My inspiration for this card comes from the amazing Norma.  Her blog is here and the tutorial for the card is here.  You must be sure to visit her  - she has some wonderful creations.

The "Celebrate" sentiment is from Create with TLC

and the circular sentiment is from Crafty Sentiments.  Both are digis.

The plain and scalloped circles have been cut on the Cuttlebug.  I have joined the two bottom layers together with a red brad and added some red pearls to finish.

Once again, thanks for looking but please don't forget to pop over to DYSU and see all the other DT's creations - they are amazing.  Perhaps...... you may even join in the fun!!

Hugs and happy crafting

Barranco Wall

Just a quick update for those who are interested - have just had a text from Louise,  She made it up the Barranco Wall.  Her comment - s ... t scary!!! However, she followed that  with "doing ok".

Looking at this picture that I found on the web.........it's definitely NOT something I would want to do. Can appreciate her comment!!  She will reach the summit early hours Thursday morning (assuming she does not suffer altitude sickness) and then it's back down.......and home.

Mixed Emotions

Today I am a very mixed up lady - emotionally!!  Why, I hear you ask. My beautiful daughter Louise, flew out of Heathrow last night on an adventure of a lifetime - she is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.  She has done really well with her sponsorship - she has raised over £5,000!!!  So obviously I am very, very proud of her but  also worried silly.  Tanzania is a heck of a long way away and we will not have any contact with her.

Her decision to climb the mountain came about last year when her friend Jazz, who is only 32, was diagnosed with cancer of the cervix. Thankfully, following a major operation, the tumor has finally been removed and Jazz is now on a very slow road to recovery.

My pride for my daughter is endless and I wish her the very best of luck.  This experience will stay with her forever and she should feel very proud of herself. We will post pictures of her journey after she returns on 30th January.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

DYSU Challenge #3 - Pink

Good Morning All,

This week at Do You Stack Up, we are thinking Pink.

We have two wonderful sponsors this week:

who are giving the winner 3 digital stamps from their store
and

who are giving 7 digital stamps from their store.

Below is my contribution using a lovely Pink Gem design called Mrs Hoot. Do pop over to DYSU and see the rest of the team's wonderful creations which will hopefully inspire you to join in with this weeks challenge.

I have coloured the image using mainly Promarkers but have used some Coloursoft pencils for added shading. The DP is some I found in my stash but unfortunately, I cannot remember where I got it - sorry!!  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the pink leaves are a Doohickey die from Magnolia, as is the scalloped edges on the pink paper.

I have edged the main design and the flowers with Stardust Stickles and also added it to the bow on Mrs Hoot's head and the butterflies. The ribbon again is from my stash and the Best Wishes circle if from Craftwork Cards. Finally, I have decorated the inside to complete my card.

The scalloped circle has been cut on the Cuttlebug and slipped into the pocket so it can be removed for writing a message on.

Thank you for looking today and I hope you like.  Please do go over to the DYSU challenge blog and join in the fun. I look forward to seeing and commenting on all your wonderful entries.

LOTV Challenge 80 - Things with Wings

I have not been posting much of late as I have not been feeling at all well. I have had the rotten cold/flu that seems to be circulating and have not felt like crafting at all - it's not easy colouring an image when you are constantly coughing!!  It's taken all my energy just to make my DT cards. Anyway, I am feeling slightly better today so thought I would enter the challenge over at LOTV. They want to see cards with wings and things - you know fairies, butterflies or anything that flies.

As I have not yet received my new LOTV stamps, I decided to use an older one.  I love this little fairy.

Sorry about the really poor picture quality but just could not get a better one with the lack of light on this miserable wet day.  I have made an easel card and used Bo Bunny papers which I edged with Distress Ink, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and a sentiment from Craftwork Cards, which reads "Have a Wonderful Day".

The image was stamped using Versafine, cut on the Cuttlebug and coloured with Distress Inks and then Stickled. I also distressed the edges and Stickled them. I hope you like.  Thanks for looking.

DYSU Challenge #2 - Distressed

It's week 2 over at Do You Stack Up but first,  I would like to say WOW...what a great first challenge we had.  So many lovely entries - over 150!! Not bad for our very first challenge. Thank you all who participated and congrats to all those winners.

The theme for this week is No Stress, Distress!.

We are being sponsored  by Whoopsi Daisy Digi Stamps, who are offering 2 sheets of their Digital Stamps.

So without further ado, here is my offering.

For this card, I have used Pink Petticoat papers from the Vintage Rose collection.  I was looking for a pale, slightly worn wallpaper look and think these worked really well. I have roughed up the edges and then distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Weathered Wood. The lacy border and flourish are Magnolia Doohickey dies.

The image is coloured with Promarkers and the organza ribbon is from my stash.  I have finished off with a flower charm from The Hobby House.

I hope you like and that my card will inspire you to enter our great challenge. Please pop over to DYSU and see all the other DT's great creations. They are really inspiring.

Thanks for looking.
