I have some great news that I have been dying to tell you all but have not been able to until today...........I have been chosen to join the DT for a great new challenge blog starting January 6th 2011 - "Do You Stack Up?" (My very first DT membership). We will have challenges posted every Thursday with some great sponsors and fabulous prizes. Please, please pop over there and join in the fun.
This is all thanks to Alison of Free Digital Stamps and Stretch N' Bubbles for setting up this new Challenge Blog and picking little ol' me to be part of the great team. I have added all the DT members to the side bar so please keep checking this blog for details of the upcoming challenges and pop onto their blogs and leave some love - they are a brilliant bunch of talented ladies. In fact, if you go over to the blog now, you can meet all the designers and take a look at their wonderful work. Do excuse the terrible photo of me though!!!
It goes without saying, that I am both nervous and excited about this opportunity but can't wait to get started. Hope you will join in and have some fun.
Today I am posting something a bit different from the usual cards! This is a mirror I made some time ago. It is my take on a project from Craft Stamper - October 2008.
I painted the mirror black and then decorated it with 32 small stampboard pieces, which were coloured with inks and stamped. Actually, that is not strictly true - I used rub-ons to decorate some. I then enhanced some of the designs with the scratch tool to give white areas, gave it a coat of varnish and finished off with a few charms.
Why Happy Sunday - 'cos the snow has finally gone and the sun is shining (at least for now)!!
I have been asked by CSN stores if I would like to do a small review for them. I was only too pleased to as they have some great online stores. You really should pop onto their online furniture store and take a look at some of the fabulous bedroom furniture they have there - I especially like the children's beds. While there, do take the opportunity to have a look at all the other lovely departments.
While I am here, I thought I would show you my latest project - a stamped image candle. I have been wanting to try this for ages.
Sorry about the picture quality but due to it being a white candle, the light insisted on bouncing off it!!
I have used an Elusive Images stamp called Rose Stem Script which I bought last year from Graphicus and coloured it with Promarkers. It's not too bad for a first attempt but the candle did slightly lose it's shape. Think I will need to use a harder candle next time.
Thought I would post some more pictures of "she who rules the roost" as its been an age since the last one.
Bath Time - last year.
Summer this year - hasn't she grown.
Sway and her mate Alfie - this is what Sway would look like if we let her coat grow!!
Sway's favourite spot - on the sofa with her cuddly blankeys!
Watching the world go by!!
As you can see, she is still as gorgeous as ever but her coat has unfortunately gone from a lovely chocolate brown colour to almost white in places. However, this does not stop her being a beauty (biased opinion, I know).
Anyway, just thought I would share these with you. Hope you like.
Am back again with another card which is going into the Sugar Bowl challenge # 48. Marlene has given us a lovely sketch to follow with a theme of black and white + one. The lucky winner will get the whole collection of Leanne Ellis' new ‘Alice’ rubber stamps (which have not yet been officially previewed) and a set of nestabilities. Would I love to win this or what???!!!!
Anyways, here is my card.
I have used one of the new Simply Sassy stamps and papers from Pink Petticoat - the Lola's Boutique collection - don't think they do this one anymore - sorry. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Coloursoft pencils and I have added a small sentiment of my own. I had wanted to add a lilac ribbon but do you think I could find one to match - not a chance and you should see the amount of ribbon I have in my drawer!!! However, I don't think it misses a ribbon too much.
But that's not all folks! I really went to town with this one. I have decorated the inside of the card and added a great little poem by Spike Milligan and I have even lined the envelope. What fun have I been having?! (housework can wait)
That's all for today - guess I ought to go do that housework - yuk!!
Thank you for all your lovely comments and do please keep coming back - you inspire me to keep crafting.
Today I am posting another card I made with one of last year's Whiff of Joy Snowman stamps - love these. I have used some gorgeous papers from Craft Creations and paper pieced the snowman's hat, gloves and scarf (must be honest here - got this idea from Bev Rochester. If you have not yet seen her blog, you really must pop over there. Her creations are out of this world!).
I have distressed the papers with "Weathered Wood" distress ink and coloured the snowman with Promarkers. The embellishments are some I had left over from last Christmas and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards (of course!!).
Quite a simple card, but I think it works well. Hope you agree!!!
I have entered this card into the following challenges:
I was just looking at some of the Wednesday challenges and decided to enter this card into the one over at I Love Promarkers. As the title of this post suggests, the challenge is "Snowmen". The prize is a $15 spend in "Simon Says Stamp" online shop and how you interpret the challenge is completely up to you, as long as you make sure you follow the theme and use ProMarkers.
It is also going into the one at Fab 'n' Funky Challenges - Forget Me Not. Thought it quite appropriate as this is an old stamp I have only used once and the papes have never been used before.
I have used a Whiff of Joy stamp from last year which is coloured with Promarkers (obviously!) and mounted on Nestabilities circles. The papers are some digi ones I have re-coloured. Sorry, cannot remember where I got them!! All have been edged with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. I have used a Craftwork Cards sentiment and finished off with a ribbon from my stash.
Thanks for looking and if you like this, please leave a comment. Hugs Denise xx
Hello Again!! Two posts in one week - amazing!! Today I have a card for the challenge over at A Spoonfull of Sugar - Relish to Embellish.
I have used one of the new Simply Sassy stamps from Sugar Nellie - "My Friend Kitty" I am absolutely loving these as they are such great fun to colour. I have used my good old trusted Promarkers and edged all the papers with Adirondack ink - Brights Mountain Rose. The papers (aren't they lovely?) are from Nitwits Blossom Buddies kit.
I have decided to make this a calendar card as I think it is far too pretty to put away once the birthday (or whatever it is given for) is over.
The embellies are ribbon, paper flowers (with brad) and a silver heart charm from my stash and "Special Friend" sentiment from Craftwork Cards. I have also added a poem to the back of the card.
To finish this project off, I have made a matching box so that this becomes more than just a card.
Afternoon All, Gosh - did not realise it has been so long since I lasted posted anything here. It has been a bit mad around here lately and my mojo seemed to have run away!!.. I spent hours just looking at my stamps and paper but the inspiration did not come. Thankfully, it seems to have returned.
My card today is a Christmas card (obviously, going by the title!) and I have used the lovely LOTV stamp "Carol Singers".
I have used one of my favourites papers for the backing - Sandylion Poinsettia Swirl Foil and the circle is cut from a Kanban cardstock I bought last year. The image has been coloured using Promarkers with glitter added to the "furry" areas and the snow. The whole thing has been finished off with a ribbon from my stash and a greeting, also from Kanban.
Thought it was about time I entered some more challenges, so this week my card is going into two!! The first is a sketch over at Friday Sketchers and the second is Pink at Totally Gorjuss.
Here is the sketch for Friday Sketchers # 124 sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. The prize for this one is a $25.00 gift certificate to spend in their online shop.
Totally Gorjuss are celebrating their 1st Anniversary so for every 50 people who enter they will add another prize to the winner and they are being sponsored by Lili of the Valley.
And...........here is my card!!! Sorry about the grainy picture.
I have used one of the lovely Gorjuss Girls and the paper is from Nitwits. Everything is edged with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and the hearts are some I had in my box. The wording on the tag is a Docrafts' stamp - I think it's called Whispers Words. I have left this loose so that it can be taken out and read.
Well, here's hoping you like it. Thanks for looking anyway.
Which means its time for another Sugar Bowl Challenge. This week they have a lovely sketch by Lillian with the theme of Happy Birthday. So, I have been happily crafting all day - housework can wait. It will still be there tomorrow!!
They have a wonderful prize this week also - A set of Nestabilities Labels 17 dies AND a set of 6 brand spanking new Simply Sassy rubber stamps. Pop over to the blog and have a look.
I have used one of the original Gorjuss Girls (cos I love them all). The papers are from Fancy Pants - English Rose and Romance. Aren't they just to die for. The picture really does not do them justice.
I have coloured her with Coloursoft Pencils and Sansodor - I think this gives a softer effect than using Promarkers, which fits well with the papers.
The ribbon is from my stash and the ovals, flowers and tag have been cut on the Cricut. The sentiment is from Stampendous - Everything Happy (had to angle the "happy" to make it fit the tag!!).
I decorated the inside too.
Am off now to make some more cards. Hope you like. Thanks for looking.
Tonight's card is going to be entered into a few challenges. This gorgeous image called "Kai in the Snow" is from Mo's Digital Pencil - isn't he just the cutest!!
I have coloured him with Promarkers and glittered the pom poms and snow.
I have also glittered the edges of all the different layers and the snowflakes. The mat has been embossed using a Fiskars Texture Plate and the snowflakes cut with a Martha Stewart punch. The brads and ribbon are from my stash. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.
I really enjoyed colouring this image but making a white on white card was a real nightmare for me. It bothered me that the various layers of white looked different shades - once I had put it altogether though, they seemed to tone in!!!
I have finally managed to finish my first Christmas card for this year - a bit late I know. However, it's seems to be the same each year - I get to November and think help....only one month to go and loads of cards to make!!!! So, I suppose, considering its only September, I am early this year.
I have used this gorgeous LOTV stamp - Angel Gabriel, which has been coloured using promarkers and stickled with Star Dust. The papers are a digital download from Nitwits called Joyful Hearts. Love these.
I have finished off with some satin ribbon from my stash, a stickled snowflake cut using a Martha Stewart punch and a sentiment from Craftwork Cards.
Oh...and the inside has been decorated too!
I have two more on the workspace waiting to be completed, So as soon as these are finished, I will post them.
